Looking for things to do in Key West with kids? Key West Room Escape is a private, air-conditioned escape room in Old Town where your family gets 60 minutes to find clues, crack codes and break out together. It is the one Key West activity where the kids are often the ones who solve it.
Why families love it
- Private rooms. Book 3 or more people and the room is yours alone, so nobody else is rushing your kids.
- Cool, dry and indoors. A perfect break from the afternoon heat, or a rainy-day plan that saves the vacation.
- Built for ages 6 and up. Younger children can come along free with your group.
- Just one hour. Easy to fit between the beach, lunch and sunset at Mallory Square.
- Hints when you need them. A Game Master watches your progress and sends hints so nobody ends up frustrated.
- Right downtown at 314 Simonton Street, a short walk from Duval Street.
Family pricing
$45 per adult, $35 per child (ages 6 to 14). Children under 6 are free. Kids 14 and under must be with a paying adult. A family of four with two kids is $160 for a private room.
Which room is best for your family?
- Sloppy’s Time Machine (level 7 of 10): our newest room and the best first escape room for families. Find the hidden time machine and get Sloppy Joe and Papa Hemingway out of trouble.
- Pirate Treasure Hunt (level 8 of 10): kids love the pirate theme. Find the lost treasure before you walk the plank.
- Jail Break Havana (level 9 of 10): our toughest room, best for families with teens who like a real challenge.
- Outdoor Quest: Papa’s Hidden Message: a self-guided puzzle walk through Old Town on your phone ($30 per adult, $20 per child). Great for families who want to explore too.
Tips for a great family visit
- Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early.
- Have everyone use the restroom before you arrive. Our historic building has one small restroom.
- Street parking nearby is limited, so allow extra time or take a ride share.
- We are open daily from 2 PM to 8 PM, so it fits nicely after a morning at the beach.
Rainy day or too hot? We’ve got you
Key West afternoons can be scorching, and summer storms roll in fast. An escape room is a fun backup plan the whole family will remember. See our list of the best indoor things to do in Key West when it rains.
